Mission Statement

The Middle Atlantic Region of College and University Mail Services (MARCUMS) is organized to enhance the professionalism and technical expertise of its membership in postal management through education, exchange of information and access to new technologies and processes. MARCUMS provides the organizational element to allow its members to achieve these goals by its motto “Success through Teamwork.”

Its co-founders were Randy Rice, York College of Pennsylvania and Jim Buratti, University of Maryland. With the help of Karen Kaczmarek, Duquesne University, John Golding, Northern Virginia Community College, Barbara Buchanan, Millersville University, Nancy Guthrie, Geneva College, Elaine Rafferty, Rider University, and Glenn Molzer, Carnegie-Mellon University, MARCUMS was established. The first business meeting was on October 20, 1998 at York College of Pennsylvania, York PA.

MARCUMS is seeking active members who are employees of Colleges, Universities and Institutions performing duties relating to mail services or print. MARCUMS consists of a broad and diverse membership working to achieve the common goal of advancing the professionalism of its members in mail management and related activities. By becoming a MARCUMS member you will gain peer & group support, networking opportunities, a bi-yearly newsletter, access to the MARCUMS listserv and member access to our website.

MARCUMS holds one annual conference usually in the fall and one free professional development day usually in the spring.
